More Quilt retreat

Here are a  few things that I did at Quilt camp......

Awhile back I came across a pattern on the internet to make 3 baby quilts out of 3 yards of fabric and I couldn't wait to try it out.  These little quilts are QUICK to make and make a perfect background for embroidery or applique.  I added some embroidered circles to the middle quilt.
You can find the link to this pattern HERE
The quilts are so fast and easy they are perfect for a quick baby shower gift OR wonderful for donation quilts

I made this St. Pat's tablerunner and LOOK!  It's not all wonky like the last one I made!  I also made up 2 of these little embroidered bags.  (only one shown!lol)

I made 2 of these little St. Pat's wallhangings, but only one was completely finished.  This is an Anita Goodesign Holiday Tea Towel design.

And the very first thing I finished at camp was this little snowman wallhanging.
I made the piano key border, quilted it, bound it and made a label.
This little quilt was sent off first thing monday morning to Diane in Florida.
I should be receiving a quilt from ?  someone?  soon from the Quilting Bloggers Wintertime Mini Quilt swap.

Just a little glimpse

Just a little glimpse into my weekend quilt retreat.
It was fabulous to be up among the pine trees
and the crisp fresh air in Christopher Creek Arizona
at Pines and Needles Quilt retreat.

Kathy coming down the cleared path.

We love to eat.
Our last breakfast together.

Joanne and Dolly entering the quilt barn
with lots of snow all around.

This picture was snapped by the webcam
several hours AFTER our departure.
It snowed shortly after we left.
I think we got out just in time,
however I would have loved to see falling snow...
It's been awhile since I've seen that!
But I sure would not have wanted to get snowed in!

Check back tomorrow to see a fabulous quilt show
of our finished projects at quilt camp.

Design Wall Monday

As I said in one of my last posts
I have been ITCHING to piece something!
So on my recent getaway to quilt camp that's just what I did!
I sewed the first 3 blocks of Debbie Bowles "Yikes" quilt.
(Yes, yes, I can count...........there are 6 blocks.
You make a light and dark version of each of the 12 blocks!)

This quilt (when finished) will actually go on MY bed!
Can you believe that I don't have a quilt on MY bed?

Here we are.........the Friday Night Quilters
at Pines and Needles quilt camp up in
Christopher Creek Arizona.
The weather this past weekend was absolutely wonderful!
I did quite alot of sewing, alot of eating & drinking and even
some hiking. More on quilt camp in the next post......

The day before quilt camp I worked on and FINISHED
this huge quilt for Mary. Blaire, Mary's daughter chose
the fabrics for this huge quilt, designed the pattern and
did the piecing. This is her first quilt!

Also before quilt camp I finished up these
2 quilts for Jennifer. The one on the bottom
was my design wall last Monday!
I was trying to decide what to quilt on it!
I finally decided on a Greek key type border
(even tho this quilt did NOT have a real border)
I did quilt abit of stitching in the ditch around each
of the pieced squares and circles and then geometric
shape in the remainder of the quilt.
Jennifer was going to a quilt camp this past weekend
and she was going to be doing the binding on this quilt.

Well, for now I'm off to "Jazz my Size" or
Jazzercize as most people call it!

I've been crazy busy the last couple of days! I was able to spend a very enjoyable weekend up north at Pines and Needles Retreat. It was great for me to be able to take a few days off (and away from the quilting machine) to give my elbows a chance to rest.

Here is a picture of the whole group:

I was able to accomplish quite a bit of sewing while I was there. I put together this quilt top from strips of fabric that were already cut. I had participated in a strip swap awhile back and these were the black and white strips that I had traded. It was great to be able just to start sewing the strips together! The pattern for this quilt is called "Dancing Stars" and it is made specially for 2 1/2" strips.

This quilt is another t-shirt quilt in progress:

These are some of the other projects that I worked on while at camp:
a Greenbay pillow made out of a t-shirt, another pillow made out of a t-shirt (red square) a pair of Micro-mitts, a pillow case and 2 paper-pieced heart squares made from scraps of quilts that I have made and given away.

Before I went to camp I embroidered this Apron for Kim, the hostess and owner of Pines and Needles Quilt Retreat:

I also embroidered this apron for our friend Nicole who used to play soccer on Mike's team. Nicole and her husband Craig just purchased their first home and unfortunately I missed their housewarming party since I was at camp. But Mike and all the kids were able to go, so I sent this apron along in my place!
I"ve also had a birthday since I last wrote, the big Five-O, but I'll save that to write about for another day.
