Anita Goodesign Workshop Day 2

Pictured here are Steve Wilson
founder and chief digitizer for Anita Goodesign
and Aundrea Flores.
These two are a lively and fun pair and
made the 2 day Phoenix workshop both
educational and entertaining!
At the moment they are modeling their
stylin' red valentines shoes and socks!!

I was really taken with the story about how
this company was started by Steve at the tender age
of 20 and the process of naming it.
Anita was his grandmother's name
and every one needs a "good design"
(I need a good design....get it?)

Kathie was our workshop princess
working hard to make sure we had all the supplies
we needed and I'm sure did a zillion other
things that we attendees were unaware of.

Kathie is pictures here with Mr. Pat Mulqueen,
owner of Mulqueens Sewing Center and sponsor
of the Anita Goodesign Phoenix workshop!

These were all the ladies who sat at my table.
We had a good time making numerous cool projects.
This is my favorite:

This sweet bag was made entirely "In the Hoop"
A brand new concept for embroidery for me.
Can you believe that the zipper was sewn in
while still in the hoop and on the machine?
Pretty cool.
I'm looking forward to making this one again soon!

But for now I think I'm off to get some sleep.
I was planning on trying to get a couple of designs
stitched out tonight, but after watering and fertilizing my
tomato plants, fixing dinner, and transfering the designs
to a disc my eyes are drooping
and you know what they say:
Tomorrow is another day!

Anita Goodesign Conference

So here we are the
Embroidery Princess'
at the Anita Goodesign class
being held at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Phoneix.

This is my very first embroidery class and I
am learning so much and having alot of fun
meeting other ladies who share this crazy passion.

Here are a few samples of some
of the beautiful things you can embroider.

This one is the Country Church tile scene.

This design is called Victorian Roses
and it is really stunning in person.
This sweet design is from the Butterfly 2 collection
and will be super sweet as a baby quilt.

Did I mention that I"ll be a grandma soon?

signing out from a hotel in downtown Phoenix.........
another full day of embroidery learning tomorrow!

The needle goes up, the needle goes down

The needle sure better be going down!
That's all I got to say!

What needle?
The needle on my scale.....that's what needle!

I've been Jazzercising and hiking, jazzercising and hiking
and BOY! am I tired!

In between all that exercise I've managed
to squeeze in a little quilting.

This is a quilt that I've recently finished for Tallie:

I've also finished a few embroidery projects:

I put this on a kitchen towel.......
Do you think it will help?

Another embroidery has gone on a shirt that
I will be wearing to a class this weekend:

All that exercise has made me pretty tired.
Time for some sleep!

Design Wall Monday

I've woken up to a GLORIOUS day!
The sun is shining and the birds are singing
and I am sssooooooooooo thankful to live in Phoenix.
I've been watcing with amazement at all of the snow
various parts of the country are experiencing.
While very beautiful to look at from inside
I'm thinking that it would be a BEAR to go anywhere!

Design Wall Monday always seems to sneak up on me!
but, Lucky ME, I have quite the list of unfinished projects
to cull from.  So instead of starting something brand new
today I've pulled this from the UFO pile.

This little project was started years ago in a class

with Loraine Torrence at Quilt Camp in the Pines

heald in Flagstaff Arizona.

We started this design with a blank piece of paper

and had to let our imaginations take over.

Not an easy thing to do!

But once you get started it

is amazing how stimulating and exciting it can be.

Design Wall Monday

at
Judy Laquidera's blog

has been prompting me to get creative

and get some projects done!

Thanks Judy!

Here is last week's project finally finished:

I know......It's about time!
