More Pink

Micro-Mitts and Mini purses
are some of my favorite things to make.
These little gifts are destined to become prizes.
I love the little bear embroidery on one of the change purses.
This was a first for me to include embroidery on this project.

Last night my friend Kathy and I got together to
work on a quilt to be used to auction to raise
money for the 3Day breast cancer walk.
Here are the blocks in progress:
Our friend Tana is walking again this year and
needs to raise close to $3000!
So she asked me if I could make a quilt to auction.
She is having a Bunko/Bingo/LCR extravaganza in May to raise funds.
Here is the near completed top:
We just need to add a border or two, quilt and bind
and we will be finished.

I walked the 3Day with Tana several years ago and it is an amazing challenge.
First you have to raise ALOT of cash,
then you have to train like crazy.
(I walked 40 miles a week for MONTHS to prepare!)
Then you have the actual walk......
20 miles a day for 3 days straight!
Not to mention sleeping in tents and using
port-a-potties for 3 days!
You go TANA!

I've quilted several quilts in the last couple of days
including this hand embroidered on by Mary.

And these two little quilts by grandma Lee.

We've had a couple of really COLD days here in Phoenix
which has been quite a shock after our 96 degree days.
I'm soaking it up in preparation for the HOT days to come!

Painting the town Pink!!!

Do you like to make cakes?
Quite  a few years ago I took one of those Wilton Cake decorating classes.
I had to make a cake every week for 6 weeks.
I used to put the cake in a container on the counter
and we kept a fork right beside it and took a bite
when we passed by.
Those were the days......
We were both really skinny back then....
Hmmmmm.......Wonder what happened?!?!

I made 5 cakes today!
But I'm afraid that we won't be sticking a fork into any of these cakes!
These cakes are made out of diapers!

I made them to use at Jenny's baby shower.
I sure do love getting my bang out of a buck!
First they will be used as decorations,
then the cakes will be taken apart and used as a DIAPER!
(I am pretty sure after that it will be thrown away....lol)

Here is a picture of the diapers I embroidered
with Mia's name.
These will also be used as a decoration
then will be put to use as burp cloths.

The nursery is coming along nicely.
I helped with a little of the trim.
I hear that the room is entirely done now
including the purple circles that are to to
in the white area which I don't have a pic of as of yet.

Well?
Have you had enough Pink yet?

A glimpse into the life of a longarm quilter

See?
Look right up there under the Blog title
HeartString Quilts
A Glimpse into the life of a longarm quilter.

I'll bet you've been wondering if I do any quilting anymore!
My writing has been sorta on the side of my life and
not so much my quilting.

But HEY!  Lookee here......
QUILTS!
I HAVE been Quilting!

Here is another t-shirt quilt made by Barbara.
This one was made out of her grandaughter's clothes,
and not JUST t-shirts.
It was a little tricky to quilt especially the blue jean overalls
that are right in the center of the quilt.
She included the very first little outfit that she gave Hannah,
and there are several little outfits that still have the ruffles on them.

I quilted this quilt for Katrina's new grandaughter.
Katrina asked me to make this quilt more "baby",
so I quilted the nursery rhyme
"Hey Diddle Diddle
The cat and the fiddle
The cow jumped over the moon.
The little dog laughed to see such sport
and the dish ran away with the spoon."
I actually quilted a cat with a fiddle
and the cow jumping over the moon,
a dog laughing and a dish running away with a spoon!!!!
In this picture you can not see the quilting stitches
but let me tell you...........it is pretty cool!
I used Anne Bright's Nursery Rhymes book.

This quilt was made by Kathy and was
made to celebrate her neice's 21st birthday.

Linda made this quilt while at quilt camp and
I quilted it this past week.
I believe that it is going to be a gift for her
mother-in-law for Mother's Day.
Kinda makes me wish I had made a quilt for MY MOM
for Mother's day.

SEE!!!!
I HAVE BEEN QUILTING!

This past friday night marked the
10 YEAR ANNIVERSARY
of the Friday Night Quilters.
We had a scrumptious dinner at Sharon's house
and afterwards Ray brought in this cake
all light up with candles.

Mary brought this sweet purse for show n tell.
Really cute!

Well, I could go on and on, but I think
that I'll save some for tomorrow.

Special Day

Today was a very special day
because I got to witness Jenny and Rafael
dedicate their lives to Christ today thru baptism.

The pictures are not the best........
But you get the gist of what was happening.

This is my favorite picture.
It's pretty clear and I love how Jenny is
looking on with love in the background
as Rafael is being baptized.

We celebrated this occasion AND Brian's new job
plus promotion with a special lunch today.

Do you have a green thumb?

For years I've tried and tried to develop a green thumb.
I'm beginning to think that a green thumb must be something
you are born with and not something you can learn.
But you know what?
I keep trying!

About a month ago I planted some sweet pea seeds
in one of those seed starting trays that you can buy.

See?  It says Professional!
That's me alright!

This is what the plants looked like just a few days after planting.

Yesterday I transplanted all those little plants into thier own little pots.
And I'm just crossing my fingers hoping that I can keep them alive
and thriving for another few weeks or so.
I'm hoping to use them as decorations for a gathering I am having.
Wouldn't it be wonderful if they were actually flowering?????
I know, I know...Wake UP!
I must be dreaming again!
Hope springs eternal in my soul!

Oh MAN! 250 blog posts!

As Easter day is slipping away
I take time to count my blessings.

I am so blessed to have my children live in the same town.
Here we are just after Easter dinner.

Don't I have a beautiful family?
And have I mentioned lately that my family is growing?
Mia is pictured here at 27 weeks. No you can't see her yet,
she's still got a little bit of growing to do before she comes
out to greet the world.

26 years ago on this day MY family grew when
Brian was born.
Here he is sharing his birthday cake with a
nephew and niece.
Birthdays are always more fun when you can share it with a child or two!

Saturday night we celebrated Brian's birthday with family.
Dinner at home and then off to the Coyote's game.

While at the game I came across a TRUE FAN!

Look at this sweet little face posing behind a Coyote's cutout player.

But THIS is the funny part:

A pint sized fan!  What a cutie!

Bunko babes

What a great group of ladies!
Bunko was at my house last night
and we really had alot of fun.
First was had a really nice dinner outside
in my secret garden.
It was a beautiful balmy evening
just perfect for eating outside.

Here we are intent on rolling the dice.

After bunko we play another game called
LCR
Left, Center, Right.
We all start with $3.00
and roll the dice passing the bills
to the left or right or put in the center pot.
The last one with a dollar in front of her wins!

My baby girl was the lucky winner!

Here is a picture of the whole group!
